Guilty as charged M'lud......

Hence the need for the 5 hounds in the boot of the Rangie; quite probably just another reason for the size of my manhood to be in question!

As a family we love field sports and getting outside; it also instills respect in the children, for guns (which we obviously have in the house) and for wildlife and the quarry we hunt ABD eat.

It gives us exercise, fresh air, friendship, enjoument and above all a full freezer.

Shoot Economics Uncovered!

Would you like to know the average price paid for a poult, the average rent price on land, the average breakdown of a shoot’s costs? These are all analysed within the 2009/2010 GunsOnPegs & Smiths Gore Shoot Benchmarking Survey.

We are delighted to announce that the results are now available and they have thrown up some really interesting facts which should provide some useful information for all shoots but also for guns wishing to understand the costs behind a day’s shooting.

The results are free to download by clicking on the pdf link on the right hand side of this page. You will also find a clip taken from BBC Radio 4's Farming Today programme where Chris Horne from GunsOnPegs and David Steel from Smiths Gore give their thoughts.

CLA Game Fair Video

For those that did not see the fantastic GunsOnPegs Game Fair stand at Ragley Hall this year, there is a video covering our efforts highlighting how the Game Fair has become a real place to book shooting. You can watch the video and see some pictures here.

If you didn't have guns there'd be no need to instill respect for them would there? My kids have never seen a gun and I forgot to mention respecting them whilst they were growing up yet they still haven't played Russian roulette yet!
Does respect for wildlife come from shooting at it?

1/ If you didn't have guns there'd be no need to instill respect for them would there? My kids have never seen a gun and I forgot to mention respecting them whilst they were growing up yet they still haven't played Russian roulette yet!
2/ Does respect for wildlife come from shooting at it?

1/ most of our friends shoot (and own guns); as do a lot of our family, my parents in particular. If fireams did not feature in our home we would still encounter them with regularity, in the field or on the farm - so a healthy respect for them is not a bad thing.

Guns don't kill people; its the bloody idiots holding them. Be the gun licensed, illegal, sporting or semi-auto; its the idiot squeezing the trigger not the firearm that is to blame.

2/ One susspects you know the answer to this however, are just being pedantic? Or indead that you know country sports are about more than just "shooting" or "killing". Of course it does not; what it does do is get people outside to experience the seasons, seeing the changes in the natural environment and how it is managed, understanding what the sights and sounds are and how it all fits togwther.

Such an understanding of the countryside is lost by the largest part of the population. I dare say partaking in field sport / country sports is not the only way to experience and learn, it is however one way and is enjoyable (as I'm sure others are).

Jeezus Chris. If you just condense that to, I like shooting, I enjoy it, that'd do but most of that is tosh, honestly.
