The good and the bad

Due to being at a meeting elsewhere in Glasgow, I had a different route home. The majority of overtakes were very good on this fairly straight A road. Only one was very poor. It happened at a junction (where it is safer for me to be in a prominent position) and when I was passing a pothole to my left. The video shows how close the pass was. Very poor and his gesticulations that I should be over on the left were borne of ignorance.

Reporting it mate?

If i get a chance. The problem is I can't find an e-mail address for them, and I'm not sure I can be bothered phoning them.

I'd actually have loved to contact the driver of the van with trailer to say thanks. Unfortunately it is a hire van/trailer so a bit too much hassle.

Can you tell I'm a bit fatigued!

Good example of the difference between good and bad overtakes and how the bad ones are just not necessary.

That kind of straight, narrowish fast country lane is always a candidate for the pooey-pants overtakes. Some drivers just have an expectation that they can overtake cyclists without changing speed and then get 'surprised' by the traffic coming the other way.

We've got a few like that around my way thanks to the Romans (A33 up to Basingstoke, A272 north out of Winchester spring to mind).

I wish more vans would give me as much room as that one with the trailer, that is the definition of perfection.

Indeed it was, and that is why I put up my hand to say thanks. I must admit I've seen a lot of good driving recently, far more than bad driving, and I have foud reason to say thanks more than once on each commute recently.
