i know this films been out for about 10 years now but i only saw it for the first time a few nights ago and thought it was a brilliant film, although the character percy was an absolute shoot . i guess alot of people on here must have seen it when it first came out, what was your reaction to it?

Quite liked it, good performances from most, tho thought Percy was a wee bit over the top and it was all a bit grim.

Also, have you read the book? The book's got a coda in it that really tugs the heartstrings and is great but it was missing in the film, it was a shame...

I quite enjoyed it. haggled hard for a deal on a DVD player and got this as a freebie when it was just released. watched it once or twice since.

Great film - must be about ten years since I saw it.

Agree Percy's a shoot - doesn't he get what's due him though?

One of my faves. Wasn't the film based on a series of short books - or maybe I was just talking to someone who bought it as a part work series...

EDIT - just checked on amazon - originally released as a 6 part novella series then as a complete novel

Good film. It's on TV quite a lot on various channels thoughout the year.
