A dead bike due to snake bite?

That's one BIG snake!

I had a close encounter with some kind of giant reptile (goanna?) in Australia last winter: it slowly strolled across the road just in front of me (from top to tail it was well over half the width of the two-laned road!).

Had it not been scared by a car coming up the hill behind me, I think it would have shown an unhealthy interest in me!

they bought back some great pictures from the trip, including a splendid shot of a petrol pump in Alaska, surrounded by miles and miles of precisely nothing, and some really extraordinary pictures of the end of the demonstrations in Tiananmen Square.

They're off to Kazakhstan in a few months time.

That's a real hammock of a saddle!

Thinks: a snake like that would be a darned useful theft deterrent. I mean, would YOU touch that bike?!

great photo, but I hate snakes

Cool photo!
But which came first, the bike being laid down next to the snake (risky!) or the snake conveniently coming over to check out the already laid out bike? Or was it a dead snake which was handy prop for a cool photo?
Where was it taken, Australia? Is it a King Brown?

I'd reckon on the dead snake, which means Arch was right.
