I did see those in Lidl and wondered the same. Over-ear headphones are designed to have a good seal and now most have noise-cancelling tech. So how are ear defenders with speakers in, not headphones?! I suspect marketing

Ear defenders are PPE, headphones even with noise cancelling tech are not PPE.

But that raises the question of VAT, which shouldnt' be applied to PPE but i bet it is in this case.

well... headphones aren't designed to block out the sound of noisy power tools, hence 'defenders'.
I was thinking of my chunky over-ear AKGs which block out as much noise as the ear defenders that I used to wear in my old factory job did! ***

*** The stupid thing is, I spent 40-50 hours a week wearing hearing protection at work but badly damaged my hearing listening to stupidly loud music in my free time!

A few thousand pounds in the UK if it was in good working order.

I bought it for 35 bucks, fixed a broken clutch cable, used it as a dirt bike until the rear shock came through the seat, got it welded by an friend for free and sold it for 100 bucks.

the guy who bought it forgot to put oil in the gas and seized it… several times.

it was a good summer.

You see plenty examples of old Vespas/Lambrettas over this way in BKK. In Chinatown area, they use them to ferry goods around, you'd be amazed to see the load they carry. Think the ones here are made under license in India, and imported from there. Daresay you could pick a vintage example up real cheap if you wanted.

Vintage Vespas are worth so much that there is a steady flow of them out of far east Asia via e-bay. Know as vietbodges they are often rusted out junk covered in body filler and a nice paint job with junk motors. People pay way too much thinking they are getting a professionally restored vintage bike only to get worthless junk when the container arrives. The bikes are often halves of two wrecks welded together!
