The joke went too far, now I'm being reported by the BBC

Fame, at last (infamy?)

I've been on that site and radio station several times now, never for anything particularly noteable

'm just back from a visit to Amsterdam where in certain parts of the city the streets themselves appear to provide a sort of 'Freecycle' area.
It can be amusing to observe the antics of some uplifters who coming upon a useful article are faced with the problem of getting the said article on to their bicycles in order to get them home. One memorable example was watching a woman attempt to load a large picture frame, a kitchen chair and a lampshade (standardlamp size) onto her bike. I almost felt her pain as she realised she just could not take all three and had to leave the lampshade at the roadside for someone else to claim.
Here's a pic I took last Sunday in Amsterdam, the items had gone when I passed that way later in the day. It is quite appropriate for A'dam to note the furniture was placed on the pavement and not obstructing the cycle path^_^.

Items not uplifted by passers by appear to be removed promptly by the authorities.

Round here, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham used to plaster discarded furniture with wide tape marked "Eco-crime Scene".

Someone dumped a sofa at the entrance to our nature reserve on Thursday, hours before the Green Flag judges were due to arrive*. It was promptly moved by the rangers to our recycling compound, where it would be a nice place to sit, if we ever had the spare time to sit around! I winder if we could hope for someone to fly tip an occasional table and vase to complement it.

*Apparently, last time we got maximum marks, so one dumped sofa wasn't going to lose us the flag

Here in Walthamstow, we have mattresses. This has become so famous it has spawned a facebook page, a "mattresses that look like celebrities" site, greetings cards and, believe it or not, a short film which came 3rd at the local film festival.

More can be found at the site of the official Walthamstow tourist board : http://walthamstowtourism.co.uk/index.html

Which begs the question 'What is an occasional table the rest of the time?'*

They look neat and tidy.

On the river way cycle route southwards into Blyth there is a street where the council appears to fail to even acknowledge people live there.
There is a wasteland of discarded stuff that runs alongside it, and scarily there is a school nearby too!.
I'm sure a fair few here know of it.
