I've been meaning to reset my seat properly for a while and since Evans had lowered the seat on Saturday, I paid proper attention to extension of the leg etc. after work.

shaved 10 minutes off my commute ^_^

Does that mean you raised or lowered it? Is your leg now straight with the pedal at six o'clock?

I raised it. Only by a couple of mils but a vast difference in performance. I was always 'on the way somewhere' before and kinda did a bodge job previously

It's true, you will find a difference. Seat height is a hot topic on here. Some say your leg should be slightly bent with the pedal at its lowest. I find it is better with the leg straight at least. Back in the seventies Nottingham University did some some research with racing cyclists of the day and found the best position for power delivery was a seat height 109% of inseam measurement. Some still use this guide today.

I have my leg completely straight without having to stretch from the lower back muscles.

I find that having the knee slightly bent at the bottom of the stroke is when I'm the most comfortable but I suppose like many other things, each person is slightly different and what is good for one is not necessarily good for another !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
