Well, here I am cycling to the post box on my shopper bike wearing a bright red top passing a row of parked cars, which temporarily narrow the street. A 4x4 passes me at 40 mph in a 30 mph zone with less than 12 inches to spare that get less as she carries on. I shout prat! and give chase when I realise I have a chance of catching her. She turns left into the supermarket car park. I follow her closely thinking she is going to go through the petrol station and make a swift exit to get away from me. She stops in the queue for petrol and I stop on her nearside. I gesture for her to lower the passenger window. She gestures to come round to the driver's side. The following exchange takes place.
Me: Do you realise you were driving dangerously?
Her: What do you mean?
Me: You nearly killed me.
Her: I didn't see you [ie I have no idea I passed you and I haven't looked in my rear view mirror for 200 yds].
Me: That's my point! Try to concentrate on your driving in future.
How can someone not notice someone cycling 'furiously behind them', gesturing and swearing for 200 yards?! Should they be let out of their village? The scary thing is that this woman probably lives within half a mile of me and does the same journey mindlessly every day.
