Anyone else read this guys book?
I came across it years ago and thought it was an immense story. I look it up to get as a possible Xmas pressie for someone and I find out that the whole tale was enmired in controversy...

Yes, I read it years ago after coming across it in a second-hand bookshop.
The story enthralled me and I read it in virtually one sitting. An old schoolfriend who was visiting me at the time took the book away and I never saw it again.
I have thought of it many times since, but was unaware of the uncertainty surrounding the authenticity of the story.

A great novel by the sound of it.
Ironically if he wrote it now as a 'best-seller' he'd probably become a millionaire from the serialisation and film rights
