I've no idea why but I was thinking about the chap who used to eat them.

A quick google reveals that he ate;

Bicycles 18
Shopping cart 15
Television 7
Chandelier 6
Bed 2
Skis (pair) 1
Cessna aircraft 1
Waterbed 1
Coffin 1

He was called Michel Lotito and sadly died in 2007 at the age of 57, apparently of natural causes. I beg to differ though.

I don't think anyone else has picked up the mantle since his demise. And why six chandeliers when surely lawnmowers would have been more tasty?

It seems people think of him more than you'd imagine.

@Tin Pot nice. When he popped into your head, what were you doing? Me, looking a boring spreadsheet.

He limited his metal intake to about one kilogram per day. So each of the 18 bicycles he consumed required multiple sittings. It took him two years to eat the airplane. Lotito also ate 15 shopping carts, seven television sets, six chandeliers, two beds, a coffin and a small section of the Eiffel Tower. At that point he was just rubbing it in, no?

Oddly enough, he had trouble eating and digesting bananas and hard-boiled eggs.

I wasnt working, it was my birthday and two days after Ironman UK so I was pretty fatigued. Wasn't drinking, so no explanation there - I was just in the front room with the family and out it popped

The ironman part makes sense, just hope that last part wasn't too distressing though.

I knew a bloke years back who could eat a wine glass for a bet.

Used to take him ages by which time we would have got bored and had another pint.

apparently the method is to grind it to a fine powder with your teeth before swallowing it.
