... they appear to have spontaneously regenerated.

At the moment, I don't bother carrying a puncture-repair kit with me - I carry two spare tubes to save a little time. In the last six months, I've had three punctures at various times (usually the furthest distance from home for that day's spin) and tonight I decided to patch the rascals. One was duly mended, but I was damned if I could find the leaks in the other two. Not one intermittent bubble was to be spotted emerging in the water. I don't know what's secretly happening where I store the things - perhaps the fairies and pixies come and do something magical with the bike tools I keep alongside them. Meanwhile, I now have three spare inner tubes, two of which I am going to treat as suspect.

I've considered that. But it's one hell of a coincidence for two valves to play up at exactly the same time as their respective tyre deflates and I dig a chunk of glass out of the rubber. Still, I believe I'm open-minded to long-shots.
