Authentic accents? So you want to hear the actors putting on a 17th century French accent. Is this like a period 'Allo 'Allo?

Can someone please describe a 17th c French accent? (I'd guess that French wasn't even D'Artagnan's 1st language what with him being a Gascon..)

Perhaps they should have all had different accents: Porthos cockney, Athos upper crust, Aramis, Oxford and D'Artagnan I imagine as a bit of a Geordie.

I agree. It has all the ingredients of perfect Sunday night viewing - costume drama, plenty of action, not too complicated to follow and the leads aren't exactly hard to look at but unfortunately, the story lines and acting have not held my attention for some reason and I have been rather disappointed by the whole thing. I expect we will be watching the second series though as the kids have really enjoyed it.

I was talking to my eldest about watching it when they were young, and they have absolutely no recollection (though to be fair I had completely forgotten about it too until this show).

This show has been essential viewing for my youngest and something we do together on a Sunday night (and suitable bribe material ... go on into the shower or else you can't watch it etc - why are some teenagers allergic to showers???).
