We could always do it the other way for the challenge

Have downloaded the route in case I get too far in front of you

No Tubby this time?
Along flattish bits with a tailwind when we have loads of energy, cafe stop less than half way, back up steep hills into a howling gale, now let me think ... NO!

Kevin chose the Cheshire 200 and Bowland ride dates to suit his family so I think this one is out.

was planning on joining you, but working now.

Shame about that Shaun, but I'm glad to see that you still drop in from time to time - see you on the 15th!

Just checked the weather. Still looking similar to what was previously predicted. Clear sky and sunshine is the upside. Strong winds could make it a tough one. Also not quite as warm as it has been over the weekend. Think it's a day for long bibs and long sleeves, but with sun tan cream on faces and bald patches.

Looking forward to tomorrow's ride.

We'll have to take it easy on the descents because some of the vicious gusts we've had here today could easily have you right across the road if descending quickly. At least the wind should help us on the way out.

I think I'll wear 3/4s, a long-sleeved base layer, a short sleeved jersey and a gilet.

I'll see you chaps at about 09:50 in the usual car park. It will be just the 5 of us this time unless anybody decides to sign up at the last minute - hint! ;)

PS Please make allowances for me if I am even slower than usual - I've only ridden 20 miles since April 8th due to a chest infection!

No worries Colin. I'm sure you still have the strength from more years of riding. How are you feeling now? Are you recovered from the infection and lurgy? Or are there still remnants hanging around?

I was all ready to be brave and wear my shorts until I read your pessimistic weather forecasts
Oh well, longs it is, I don't own any sun cream so I'll just let any exposed bits burn, no bald patches here though

Just been de-weighting the bike again, to make up for the weight I've put back on in the last 2 weeks, better start my carb loading soon

I feel okay, but very unfit.

I don't think it will actually be cold. I might even switch to shorts at the last minute if it is warm enough at 09:30. I wouldn't mind it being slightly chilly early on because it will warm up later. It was pretty warm sitting in the sunshine here today, just a bit cool in the shade but exposed to the wind.

Do you think it's possible to install a mast and sail?

I have already installed a lardo-sail ® for the ride!

I'll probably go for ss shirt, armwarmers, gilet, bib shorts and summer tights. Can ditch the tights if I get brave or no-one else brings a camera

You've never had a decent dose of sunburn before have you ...?

I burn easily so I've had it quite a few times and I can tell you that it isn't nice! I was telling someone about a bad case of it on our last forum ride. Huge weepting blisters - ugh!

Your flesh feeling like someone has flayed it, rubbed hot chillis into the wounds and blasted it with a blow torch isn't one of life's most pleasurable experiences.

Then of course, there is the potential delight of skin cancer years later ...
