I have a Synapse AL 105 Disc, but by upgrading the wheels (Which frankly are the only fairly cheap thing on the bike) It obviously becomes something else. The original Maddux 3.0 rims with Formula DC hubs were weighty and can damage easily on bad roads due to either slight buckling or bearings giving way.

I have done something slightly different from the norm by having Stans No Tubes wheels fitted 'Alpha400 Disc series' with Hope hubs. I am still running it with normal tubes until I make my mind up about spending £60 on tyres and running tubeless. The wheels are almost bomb proof and half the weight of the Maddux.

The differences in ranges of a manufacturers models can vary in a huge way or a small way. For example some models within a range can be exactly the same except for a different gear upgrade or a wheel upgrade. I'm struggling with mine as it doesn't become a CAAD 8 or CAAD 10 because of my upgrade, so maybe I'll just call it a Cannondale Doc?
