Just another update as I'm sure you're all sitting eagerly waiting for more news, not. I had my first proper solo ride on the bike this afternoon to give it a proper test and go at my own pace. I did a circuit that I was familiar with and could compare results on Strava. The conditions were dry and bright with a slight headwind to start with. The result over 35 miles was 18.5 mph average speed, one KOM and 3 PB's. Now to put it in context I'm not a racer and don't chase segments on Strava so I just went at my own pace around the whole route and the results truly amazed me. I guess a better bike can lead to massive improvements in speed but I'd like to think improved fitness is helping too and it's all resulting in faster times around my routes.

Around the same time, I bought the Agree which is one model down from yours (I presume) with the Ultegra / 105 mix and Easton wheels, I've been out 3 or 4 times on it now and like you have noticed a massive difference, although I have upgraded from a Carrera TDF so I was kinda hoping I would!! It's a shame now that the weather's gone t**s up and the light nights have buggered off otherwise I think I'd be on it every night! Also like yourself, I told the wife a rough price and left it at that!!! I managed to convince her it was worth me getting a new bike as I've done loads of cycling over the summer and lost a fair bit of weight (i needed to) so sold her on the positives!!!

Enjoy your new steed! Happy cycling!

Thanks, I only picked it up tonight after work so was too late to go out for a ride as it was getting dark. I'm going to get up early to go out for a ride before work which is something I've never done before but I'm so eager to test it out that I'll give up a couple of hours sleep for the chance.
Why can't it go out after dark?

Its a lovely bike though, well done on such a bargain.

To be honest that's the bike I was hoping to get but he had sold the last one so I had to move up a level to the GTC SL. I think from memory he was offering the GTC with Ultegra/105 mix for £1180 so I hope you got a decent deal on yours. I agree that the weather will put a dampner on the amount of riding I want to do on the new bike but at least I can go out on weekend mornings at any time of the year. N.I tends to have mild winters so hopefully I can keep cycling all year long.

just picked it up and had no lights so I couldnt go out the very first night although I was itching to try it out. Now have lights so no worries.
