I drive an Optare bus, me. It is an ugly looking thing, but it is enough to drive the Bus Spotters to the point of orgasm. Fekk knows what will happen when they see this one on the streets.

I think it looks ok except for those ugly headlights - fix them, paint the surrounds black, I don't care, but please, just make it look better!!

As for spotters, I can predict a lot of odd looking people, most of them middle aged men descending on London over the next few weeks/months.

You a bus driver too Col ?
My mate took his PSV years ago...worst decision he ever made he said, grumpy, unthankful, ungreatful, miserable b'stards he used to call the public in general.
I am, and I can understand what he says sometimes. Some can be shall we say trying?^_^
But I must add generally they are great, it all comes down to the company you work for.

I'll probably see one in the flesh sometime this month. I cycle along it's route for around a mile.

Tell them to fix the ugly headlights then please!!

I always say 'Thanks driver' when getting off. I did this in London once and it obviously made the driver's day judging by his reaction!!:wahhey:

Faster service as the driver can set off straightaway so less congestion... that at least makes sense.
Ah now thats a good idea, back to the single/ double bell signal off the conductor. I still dont understand how it will save time though, drivers on their own pull away as soon as possible. After checking that people are near enough sat down, could take longer for the conductor to check both floors?

The driver doesn't have to sell tickets or give change [or don't drivers do that on London buses?] so they can concentrate on the road and move off as soon as folk are on... providing they don't set off too fast + send them straight out the back!!!
lol

There'll be a sign somewhere absolving for anyone thrown about. As an ex-pat I'd love to see bus conductors come back simply to make my summer holiday experience in 1990 no longer a throwback to some distant unremembered past, when a person with a strange metal box on a sling came and took coins in exchange for an odd piece of paper *even if you were sitting on the front of the upper deck*. Modernists take note: We did have to work out which zone our B&B was in.

Ah of course, I see what you mean. But that was a surprise too, the hop on and off step at the back like the old double deckers. I thought health and safety would have something to say about that. We can be in serious trouble if we dont close the door before we move off, these dont even have a door?
