Those'll be the bendy buses that carry more people, unload and load those people more quickly, and pose no additonal danger to cyclists.

One of the reasons given for getting rid of the bendy buses and replacing them with the new 'routemaster' was that fare evasion was a problem. Which could have been dealt with by providing conductors, just like on the new routemaster!

Excellent, it has an open platform. That means you can jump on and off just like the old movies and in this Monty Python sketch (1:18). They used to have Routemasters in Reading when I first moved here. I fulfilled a lifetime ambition of jumping on one after it had just set off. It was not as easy as it appeared in the films and scared the Jesus out of the conductor.

The real trick (back in the mid to late '60s) was to ride your bike up alongside the platform and get hold of the vertical handrail, to hitch a lift.
The conductors used to go ape5h1t!
The place I remember this being done regularly was Addiscombe Road in Croydon, on the way to and from school. Of course I always though this was dangerous and silly, so I never did it or got involved.....
That was in the days when the original Routemasters were new, and looked much more modern than what was there before them. Most noticeable was that they were wider and much more comfortable to ride in.

Don't worry about it Dell, just happens every day in London, this cash burning !
I don't mind so much when you lot are coughing up because we're so special, but BorisIrideabikelikeacompletetwat Johnson has put the minimum Oyster bus fare up fro, £1 to £1.35 to pay for this kind of foolishness. And, come July, we'd have all benefited from bendybusses running up and down the Mile End Road to get people to the Olympic Park.
Rumour has it that some of our bendybusses have gone to Manchester. We want them back!

Just remember that the new routemaster has a hybrid engine,so if you happen to be behind one in traffic and the engine stops don't assume it's broken down and try to get round it because it's alright the diesel engine doesn't cut in until the bus is doing 20mph.
And interestingly the batteries recharge when braking aswell as using the diesel unit.
