Most Dairy farmers use sex semen on the herds ,which gives a 99.99 % chance the cows produce a heifer calf. Nearly all herds sale there bull calves for
the bull beef market.
The pictures of these cows need more information ,was it a one off? or were there issues with lack of staff on the farm.
All Dairy farms have direct contracts with the supermarkets ,that insist on very high standards of welfare ,so consumers can see the level of care given by the farmers. Not to comply with the inspections by independent vets will automatically terminate the milk contract . The reduction of the carbon footprint is high on the agenda to negate the methane issue from cows as well.
