As long as I breathe, I attack.
For those of us who apart from furlough have to chance it by mingling with hundreds of other people each day even though companies say they are covid secure but we know otherwise .
Been back since May last year coming into contact with many people , a number who i work closely with even though the company line is social distancing its impractical and a number of those people have had covid but we still had to work unless you test positive even though your im close proximity.
Full PPE on top of work PPE means your going through masks sometimes in an hour that are designed for 4-6 hours and constantly wiping sweat from the inside of your safety glasses , people have been known to feint when it got really lot but you got given some water and expected to carry on , no ventilation or heating so your either boiling hot or freezing cold .

Is this some kind of passive aggressive go at remote office workers?
Thank you for your service :notworthy:

the OP's situation sounds particularly rough. I went back to my office job in early August. I also went back, but very limited hours, to my part time job at the big box retail home improvement store (just 4 hrs pr week)

- in the office we have very few ppl, most of us stay in our separate offices w/o masks, when we venture out into common areas we don the masks
- at the home improvement store - that's a challenge due to close contact w/ customers & lots of physical labor. I'm convinced I've been infected at least twice & possibly by a variant
- been tested (negative) once but I had to exaggerate my self perceived symptoms to get tested

Well, write it down boy ......
That's tough cyberknight, I guess you're in some sort of manufacturing, at the coal face so to speak. I can't help you, but am very grateful to you and people like you. My son is in a similar position, but at least his work is usually outdoors, so less need for a mask.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
SWMBO's been on live Covid / rehab Covid wards for a year now. Fully PPE'd all day long except where, given her specialist role, she has to go without PPE in treating patients. And she now tests herself twice a week as well.

Due to the risk to my health we've had precautions in place at home for the past year.

Nope just fairness, there is a work from home thread which i cannot comment on so just for balance i started this thread

Fair enough, but just so you know, some of us who work from home in office jobs do really appreciate how fortunate we are. We also appreciate the risks the less fortunate are having to take to keep the lights on.

I've been at work throughout, between 2 and 6 of us working together.

Work predominantly outside but depending on the job we can be physically touching each other as tools or steelwork needs to be passed to one another.

No masks.

Breaks are taken together in the same tea room.

I've no issues at all, nor has anyone else.

Not one person has contracted the Virus.

This may account for what some on here see as an irresponsible attitude.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

I pity those stuck at Home.

Haven't been furloughed or WFH at all. At one point there were 3 of us from 40+ left working and I was doing about 10 different jobs.

They try to be Covid secure but I still caught it from work at the end of January which was particularly horrible and ended up hospitalising my wife.

Other than the getting Covid thing, I'm just glad to still have a job in the current climate. Somehow the company has made a profit this year. Significantly less than last year but much better than I expected just under a year ago when the first 'lockdown' started and the world ground to a halt.

You have my sympathy. I spent four months back in the office from September to December after working from home. It was not a pleasant or stress free experience. Especially when the local infection rate rocketed to be the highest in the country. Although where you work sounds far worse. Unfortunately there is no accountability for employers. Finished working for the organisation last month after a further two months of home working.
