I wonder what the punishment would have been if McLaren had been the 'guilty' team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I had put a bet on Massa winning, I would have been pissed right off!!

At least the Tour provided some real racing.

Jeez come on people, team orders have been a part of the sport since it's beginning, it's natural. The only thing different win this case is that they didn't use a code word! NO team is innocent when it comes to this sort of thing.

You're absolutely right, but that doesn't make it acceptable. The rule is a stupid one, but its there and all the teams have signed up to abide by them. I'd like to see the rule removed, but as long as it is there then teams that quite obviously break them should be punished.

Hmm... So the fastest rider won totally unassisted by other team members?

I've been really interested in the F1 this year, there have been some really good races. However, this race in Germany reminded me of many of the boring ones from the last few years, very little overtaking.

So glad I had the MotoGP to wake me back up in the evening, always more exciting.

You've already been shown to be a bit short on your knowledge of F1 history. It'd be great if you could think for yourself rather than parroting David Coulthard.

[Bit harsh?] I can't believe Massa meekly accepted it.... Alonso must be very effective at browbeating his fellow team-mates into subservience and getting his own way.

Although Alonso got on well with some of his team mates in the past he survived rather too well Flavio Briatore and Fisichella. As people said later after events, perhaps we should have wondered a bit more about this at the time.

From Alonso's point of view I think all of this stuff is a distraction and the whinging and pronouncements. His driving just hasn't been good enough this season, he'd stand a much better chance of winning the world championship if he just got on with it leaving a competitive team mate well alone. He can do it, he just needs to grow up a bit.

I was chatting to someone directly involved in F1 last night, and it would seem that most drivers have conditions in their contracts that make it quite clear that the teams interests come before that of the driver, and as such you'd be expected to do "whats right" for the team.

Then why accept a rule imposed by their governing body which precludes them acting for the good of the team?

If Ferrari had simply tuned down Massa's car for a couple of laps permitting a proper pass at the hairpin under braking, honour would have been maintained but they chose to announce their intention, and act upon it, during the race in the full knowledge that this would be the result- they have done this deliberately.... doesn't make sense- unless it is just F1's way of ensuring a boring race achieves international press coverage...

It's far from clear that what transpired was for the overall good of the team. As it happens I think the whole thing was unnecessary as they got rather lucky in respect to Webber having a bad weekend something which didn't really get commented on, which is exactly why one shouldn't behave like this, certainly so early in the season.

When? I don't remember being 'shown to be a bit short' before? I don't read David coultards blog or wherever he discussed this issue, neither do I watch the pre or post race blumph, so kindly F off and bring a constructive argument to the table...

Your rant on safety a while back when you were twisting other people's words.

Bring a constructive argument to the table yourself. I'm well prepared to listen to your view if you can be prepared to think for yourself rather than parroting other people as I've said, so kindly bother to read F1 history and list ten examples to back up your case. Driver, team, race, year. Let's see if you're up to the challenge...
