Remember last years attempts and successes at 3 months alcoholic abstinence?

There were some great successes IIRC and even some of us who failed the complete task made some pretty major reductions and changes to their alcohol habits. In my case we no longer have the wine-boxes we constantly drank from in the previous year, only wine for weekends now and bottles only.

I'm up for another go this year at least in a massive reduction in intake (I still think 100% might be impossible, but will try).
Anyone else willing?

I'm up for it. My intention is to give up completely. My current record is 8 months (but I've also managed 6 month and 3 months) with my most recent attempt being 2 months that ended after the last Brighton FNRttC. I must improve my willpower after long bike rides......

I have been a bit too enthusiastic with the ale the last couple of months so I will be abstaning during the months of January and February. Possibly longer if the willpower holds. The landlord of my local may see a reduction in his profits, but he does do a superb cup of coffee. I need to lose 2 stone and 2 inches at least around the waist.

I'm in. Did 2 months without any alcohol up to Christmas Day and really felt the benefits. Planning to same again from Jan 1st

I'm up for it as I have had to make serious reductions in my alcohol intake. It was getting out of hand.

My tipples (if you can call what I was drinking a 'tipple') were top shelf (Vodka). I have cut this out completely but seemed to substitute too much with wine (boxes for us also!). This has banged some weight on and long term abuse has probably fecked up my insides a bit. So it's also quack's orders that I knock it on the head.

So, I had my last drink 23rd Dec and hope to carry on.

Thank goodness for that as I still owe you a beer (and £18 for that lunch) I admire your fortitude Martin. Well done. Keep it up.

I think I will drink less between New Year and the FNRttC season, and then segue effortlessly into the disgusting kind of display I learned from Rich P. The drinking, that is, not the mincing about wearing only twiglets.

I cut down massively in the Autumn, so tend to drink at the weekend only, not a couple of days in the week also. Added benefit was a few not wanted kg's fell off... Kept it very reasonable all Christmas, and won't be going mad tomorrow night !!

Because we can

Because we've over-indulged of late.
Because we know it will make us feel better and sharper.
Because a new season beckons and some of us need to reduce our 'aero-bellies' before the club season starts.
Because many of us older ones probably imbibe a drop more than we're prepared to admit.
Wot The Velvet Curtain said...

and because some of us really should for our general health.....
