I'm still going from last year =)
Blimey, that's dedication.... well done!
I'm still going from last year =)
I usually try to stay dry through January so I could have a go at the three months - if I can stop a bit early as my birthday's a bit before the end of March
The possible fly in the ointment is a two week business trip to Japan at the end of January. I have no problem asking for iced tea (unsweetened proper tea - usually oolong - not that fizzy sweet muck) instead of beer at business dinners but we stay in a hotel which has a sort of happy hour with free drinks from 18.30pm - they dole out some very nice wines and good champagne. My colleagues do tend to try to be up in the lounge for 6.30 on the dot while I go off to the gym and get there later but it's still an effort to drag them out for dinner before the free drinks stop at 8.30pm. Even more unfortunately, the staff know I like a glass of champagne (and we've been staying in the hotel for more than 15 years) and will always come over bearing a tall chilled glass and a bottle when I arrive in the lounge - very very hard to resist![]()
I have a 28 day enforced abstinence every time I join a ship. Doing that 6 times a year is more than adequate.
Not having beer in the airport bar on the way home is an unbearable thought.
i've made a bet with my wife, no booze in 2011 and i get another bike. she feels confident i will fail, little does she know the NEED for a n+1.
I shall once again be foreswearing the booze.
From 3rd Jan when I return to work till I complete the Cheshire Cat sportive in March I'm planning to be completely dry.
Tonight however I'm planning on getting completely trousered......![]()
It was mentioned in a comedy routine a while back that it doesn't matter which word you use "I'm getting completely xxxxxxx" will always be interpreted as drunk....
theclaud is great exponent of this art, as she'd attest, but she's probably completely thesaurused by this time of an eve.
Aperitif said:She'll probs. throw the book at you for wild insinuation like that, Ed. (Does she drink a lot? I have never really noticed TBH)
I can take it or leave it...I just do what my body tells me to.![]()
Tough work, but someone has to take on the job - good luck Ed and happy nyooyeer!
