The Prince of Wales came to Bury this morning to make a speech at the Chamber of Commerce. He turned up wearing a Davy Crockett hat. After he'd finished the Chairman of the chamber thanked him and then asked him: "I hope you don't mind me asking this Sir, but... why the Davy Crockett hat?"

Charlie replied: "Well yesterday evening my father the Duke asked me what I was going to do today. I'm a little hard of hearing but when I told him I was going to Bury, I'm sure he told me: 'Wear the fox hat!'"

It reminds me of that time when Charles was relaxing in the bath playing with his ducks after a particularly heavy dinner engagement. His butler, Worrell, left the bathroom and to Charles' bemusement returned carrying a hot water bottle. ''Worrell, damn it, why on earth have you brought me this?'' ''Pardon me, your highness, but I could have sworn you said 'What about a hot water bottle, Worrell'.''

Are you lot trying to convince us that you've never, er, chuffed in the bath?
The 'What about a hot water bottle, Worrell' joke reminds me of another variation on the theme: the Equalizer – "Edward Woodward"
