Pronuseeayshon or pronunsheeayshun?
Place names usually catch people out in terms of pronunciation. A few well known ones in Scotland are Strathaven, Milngavie and Culzean Castle.
Nuclear and nucular is a common one.
I had a colleague who used to say chimberley instead of chimney. I've actually heard others do the same.
Apparently English is one of the hardest languages to learn, so if it's your mother tongue, you're off to a good start in life![]()

Who cares?
There's a Mars rover called Perseverance. Obviously this is pronounced percy veerance. However I've decided it should be per severance. It sounds much better. Fortunately I don't think I've ever actually had a conversation with anyone about it.
