Imagine, you're out on a group ride, someone falls and causes a pile up. Who pays for the resulting damage?

I've put a better worded post on Road, Audax and Sportives, thought I'd bring it up here as well.

If I'm the only one out riding without specific insurance I'd like to know.

unless it was negligent I'd wear my damage, the risk you accept when chosing to ride in the group surely?

my bike my cost but if it was not my bike I would pay for it to get fixed as I was riding it.
