I have noticed though, we have another cyclist on my road ! Just moved in, lives over the road, and he cycles to work with a road bike and full kit. Yay.
This could be the start of something beautiful....

I know where my towel is
is not the dark, nor is it the cold. I cant even really complain about the wet.
No, the real problem is, that the only riders left commuting at this time of the year are all full on super fit, dedicated and driven types...like you lot.

Are you sure?

I don't consider myself to be super fit in any sense

Although I do track my rides on Strava

Avg 12mph at the moment

There are still a few folks out and about as well, although I do leave quite early, so I miss the madcap rush into Central London. I also leave quite late.

Saw a rather attractive woman on a white road bike the other night, could have stayed behind her for miles  :secret: (along Cable Street/CS3).

I dont commute through winter anymore, I have a car.

OMFG! Did I just say that? I'll get me coat...:banghead::crazy::B)

Big girls blouse !

Nothing better than cycling in winter. Yes it's better in summer, but it always makes you feel smug. It also earns lots of kudos with colleagues who think you are some super hero (we aren't).

Think of all those quality miles you are now not doing ? You'll have less bike money ?

I was sure last night, It was a great ride and it all came together well, i thought I was flying to be honest, right up until the chap on my right rode past me one handed...followed by about 3 other riders.

Still the same old in the bike sheds at work and i have been saying morning to a new commuter who i see most morning when i am on day shift as they carry on along the road where i turn off to get on the A 38 cyclepath .
The fact that its a female has nothing to do with it although.........
With all due respect the OP is wrong or is missing something. I commute on a bike in the Winter because it is the fastest most pragmatic mode of transport for getting somewhere.
I think it may be you that's missing something here @User30090

What i hate about winter cycling is the faff of getting dressed, and the dark, it just isn't as relaxing in the dark.
My route is still full of cyclists from greenwich into town. Some fast, some slow, i do find that there are far more racers on the ride home than in the mornings. Not sure why.

I don't see any other commuters either. I must admit that it does make me feel hard core, especially when my work colleagues tell me I should stop commuting now that it is cold and dark! :cold:
I love the dark mornings and nights - no-one can see my war face (or runny nose) when I'm pushing myself to the limit
