And then there's Polish potato pancakes, which are delicious as well:
Very finely grate three large potatoes, one large onion (saving all the liquid as well) into a bowl and add three desertspoons of flour and lots of white pepper and a bit of salt. Some people add an egg but I don't bother. Mix well and then fry in hot oil for three or four minutes on each side. Drain on kitchen paper and serve with sour cream for added calorific pleasure.
