I have received a valentine already!

Apparently it is from someone with a crush on me and I will pleased and surprised when I find out who it is. And I can, if I click on 'this link'.

I wonder if they are Nigerian?

I have noticed a drop in the amount of spam recently but the one that is starting to annoy me now is endless emails from Amazon trying to sell me books I have already bought from them:evil:

I was thinking of offering to re-write the e mails for them (at a price). Starting with the opening salutation (the chief investment consultant of an international bank opening with 'my dearest beloved' doesn't quite cut it) and moving on to basic spelling and grammar.

No! Leave alone. These SPAM emails do at least have a small amount of entertainment value when they're written by a bunch of illiterates. Surely you don't want to remove that tiny bit of enjoyment, seeing as they're going to SPAM us either way?

It's usually a spoof email from UPS, TNT, FedEx or similar. Saying you have been sent a package and needs money to clear customs. So usual let us have your bank details etc so we can deliver the package to you.

I haven't come across that one yet, I'll keep an eye out. Something that I did notice, when I moved to a Linux system, about 4-5 years ago, the amount of spam dropped of noticeably, which is a shame as they often had a certain amount of entertainment value

I had an amusing one on the second of January.
They have my name, almost, so when she asked to speak to Mr Snorri, I told her he was out partying as everyone should be on this national holiday. No it's not a holiday she said, the holiday was yesterday. I assured her that in Scotland the !st and 2nd of January are holidays and Mr Snorri was fully entitled to be partying. She clearly did not believe me so I asked her where she was and if they had never had any Scottish missionaries over there educating them about New Year festivities...it all got a bit garbled after that^_^

A website that deals with scam emails and scams them back. Not sure I would want this much to do with them but some good stories on here about these emails.

I used to join in with some of the things they did, but don't have as much time now.

One of the things they try to do is make the scammers believe that the really badly worded letters are the most effective. Hopefully this will lead to less real victims as people see through them.

In some cases they have started letters that are worded to look effective but are full of references that would ring alarm bells. The idea was to get these taken up by the scammers. Sometimes it worked.
