Speaking of guns with recoil I've had the pleasure to not only fire, but also own a modified H&K MP5-variant designed to fire 7.62 NATO rifle rounds.

I've even fired it at other people, and hit them!

Ok so it actually fires plastic pellets via a spring mounted electric motor, but it still looks badass

Hah! I can trump that, fired the real thing chambered for 9mm in a simulated armed standoff on the police range. Nil recoil in that calibre, but strictly semi-auto. Actually, not wishing to be too nerdy but the MP5 was never chambered for 7.62 NATO, that was the G3 battle rifle or the HK417. The point of the MP5 is that it uses pistol calibre cartridges.

I used to write for a shooting magazine so I've had the opportunity to try any number of firearms, including the dreaded AK47, but I have to say I don't like many of the US attitudes exemplified in that video clip. Treating firearms like toys is asking for trouble in my view.

Having done more shooting that I care to think about, you're broadly correct BUT if you aren't expecting the sort of kick the T.Rex cartridge is likely to give I'd expect a similar reaction from many experienced shooters. I've shot a .577 Nitro Express (the precursor of the T.Rex) and trust me, the recoil is hellish even if you're expecting something big. Even so, not as nasty as the Thompson Contender pistol chambered for 30-30 Winchester that I once had the very dubious priviledge of firing. Shooting a rifle cartridge from a pistol is not to be recommended.

Ah ha! Loved the Nitro and the TC. I had one for along time, chambered for .22 it was accurate as fook. The 30-30 was a cracking piece too. I think my fav. big bore was a toss-up between the Barratt .50 and the 105mm light gun
