Not been on for a while until now. Someone was asking about Tony Phillips, nice bloke. Tony was a member of the select `BLRC` Romford Racing Club c1950/1 together with Dave Bedwell, Dave Robinson, Dereck Buttle, Sid Aldridge. Romford RC had `The` Amateur Team, one of which was Tony, which did well in 1951 Tour of Britain. Bedwell and Buttle were by then `Independents`, followed soon after by Dave Robinson. Stan Broom was also in the Romford at this time.
Other names mentioned on site, Reuben Smith who was in the Leyton Camp and was the `Treasurer` of the BLRC London Section at this time. Reub was the timekeeper for the BLRC evening Time Trials and lived in Leytonstone. Roy Hodges was in the Avenue CRC and subsequently took over Rory O`Briens in Romford. Rory`s 1st shop was in Manor Park E/London and was the Mecca for all the racing boys at that time, Bedwell worked in the shop, I believe wheel building.
I was at the time the Sec of the `Avenue CRC`
