At last, today is the shortest day and from tomorrow the days will be getting longer , slowly.
Hopefully by the end of February commuting to and from work will all be in daylight ^_^ , although considering it's 13 degrees today probably not warmer.

You'd turned the heating on already???
Only because I have had company in the house, otherwise it hasn't really got cold enough.

Bit different than 12 months ago

This time last year me and the Mrs abandoned the cars at home and walked 6 miles to work through a foot of snow and was down to -11

It was +11 degrees on the way home from work tonight at 6.15pm .

As we live high up on a hill its normally like Ice Station Zebra up here, so this time of the year we set the heating to come on about 4.30pm

Damn heatings gone faulty this week and wouldn't shut off when it reached 20 degs on the room stat.

Came home last night and it was 27 in the living room :heat:

The winter solstice occurs when the sun is overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn which is only for an instant, the time this happens can be from mid morning on the 21st Dec until early morning on the 22nd. This year the solstice occurred at 05:30 on the 22nd.

Spot on...never managed to get to Stonehenge this morning,,but been there on previous solstice's. Looking forward to lighter nights and mornings.
