Has anyone noticed this? Is a Leftpondian thing?
Our new facility has this rule that you must reverse into parking spaces. Also just noticed this at one of my French customer sites (under American ownership).
I can see the logic, but where's the evidence that it's necessary? It's a bugger if you need to get stuff out of the boot when parked.

Where else is this happening?

Reversing into a shopping place like sainsbury etc??
I dont park next to cars with child seats in the car ..
as for reversing into spaces, some drivers cant reverse in a empty field.

Odd, and I've not seen it anywhere. Quite a few years ago I did get bolloked in Germany for reversing into a space. Apparently it was rude to blow exhaust against the car in the next row if I understood correctly.

Learn what queue means Germany, then we'll talk manners!

If whoever erected that sign would like to try reversing my 18 foot long truck with zero rearward visibility into a parking space then be my guest.

Its policy at our offices too.

apparently the logic is that you are less likely to injure somebody or damage something if you reverse in rather than out.

lots of people struggle with it though.

We have had it at our place for a while. The thinking behind is that it is less likely that someone is standing in the space when you reverse, and more likely you would hit a pedestrian, cyclist or other vehicle when reversing out of a space because they may walk, cycle or drive past and your vision is more obscured.

you not a very good driver then ? ;) have a google on streetview for Narrow street in Limehouse. The block of posh flats on the river used to be a papermill and the side entrance - well I know of one driver that got his articulated vehicle down there backwards to be off loaded. my pops . I was 10 at the time and wanted to be that good a driver.

Go on, tilt your head!
Last placed I worked requested it but mostly for neatness as they had sign written cars and they looked good all facing the same way (nose out).

I just do it out of habit now but only if I don't have the kids with me, always nose in then to get the buggy out etc

Parking spaces are typically 7-8 feet wide and 15 feet long. Car parks, roads arc are usually much wider and many, many, many times longer. Reverse into a small space, or reverse into a big one?
So you reverse across a pavement or onto a road and expect the bikes/pedestrians to look out for you! I've been nearly knocked off on more than one occasion by motorists doing that! Or simply barging their way out and expecting the other traffic to stop for them. There are usually more people outside the space than in the space you are trying to reverse into (or not in your case)

No.

I wait very patiently, often for some minutes, until nothing is coming. Or I park somewhere more appropriate.

With the limited mileage I do and with a bit of thought it's not a problem. It's only a problem when some interfering twot without the skills to park such a vehicle themselves tells me how I should park my truck.
