There is a not very PC one for colour coding on resistors I know...

Fleming - left hand for electric motors

Right hand for the torque vector from electric current in a solenoid.

Remember what they're for, but buggered if I can remember how to apply them

First finger is field
Second finger is current
Thumb is motion

However, I can't remember which hand that applies to.
