I've just switched from having a shower at work to having a shower before I leave. I've been riding less and less aggressively, to the point where over 5.5 miles I barely raise a sweat so showering seems overkill.

My colleagues have been asked to be honest and tell me if I start to ming. I'll let you know how it goes

i have gone the other way to that.

no longer have a shower at home in the morning, i have one when i get to work. might as well save on my electricity bill.

also means an extra 10 minutes in bed which over a 6 day week is an extra hour - well worth it

Must be nice to have the option to shower at work.....

We can only dream of such things and wonder why our collegues won't come near us

Not sure what the advantage is of showering at home.
I'm lucky enough to have showeres at work, so I use them there. Mind you, my commute is 13 miles each way and quite hilly.

Actually, I've just thought of one advantage of not using work's showers - 10+ years ago I got a varruca in a shower at work that took a good 5 years to get rid of

Not sure what the advantage is of showering at home.

I sweat in the night and I don't feel comfortable unless I shower after waking up. I shower before and after riding my bike. Also, if you shower before leaving you feel less sweaty when you arrive; you don't smell either since it's only "old sweat" which begins to reek...

Wear flip-flops in the shower.

Same here, I love it that "the company" is saving my leccy, but I am not sure why showering at work save 10miins. Shower = Shower dosn't it?

Shower on work time ;)
It's not like I take fag breaks or anything!

Doesn't the shower at work still take the same 10 minutes, just at a different place? Certainly does here. ;)

The benefit of showering at home is I don't have to carry all my shower kit around or worry about towels going smelly etc. Also means my boyfriend is up before I leave so I get a goodbye kiss

Also, as long as people assume they HAVE to shower if they cycle it will remain one of the biggest disincentives to cycling to work so I think it's important to see it as a choice not a prerequisite.

Occasionally I have a logistical hiccup and find myself in the office without some important part of clothing. I have been known to rush out for emergency purchases of shirts, pants, socks - even shoes. But once - just once, thank God - I ended up in an 8.30am meeting with some clients having showered, but dressed in stinky bib shorts, Foska Marmite top and SPD shoes

That was about 7 years ago. They are still a client. Needless to say, they take the piss out of me mercilessly at every opportunity.

We've got a shower at work but I've never used it!

I work on floor number 13 - there are 20 floors - there is one shower on the ground floor. That's a lot of "sharers"!! LOL

I go to the gym then cycle in and then go to the gym on the way home too. I feel the need for a bath (I'm old fashioned!) when I get home definately but not had any complaints at work so far!
