Interestingly Elephant & Castle got more complaints than any other junction in the country & I find it quite an easy junction/roundabout to negotiate - but then it's probably all subjective.

I like the idea of the interactive map and although it claims to have been updated 23rd inst, it is inaccurate.

It is only showing 1 cycling fatality in the Sunderland area, whereas there are at least 2 more in very close proximity, that I know of in recent years.

IMO if they're not getting the serious stuff accurate, then I personally have no hope for the accuracy of the lesser injury data.

The Times map says it only has data from 2010 - this one has data from 2000-2010.

Thanks - That one is more accurate, in that it has one of the fatalities shown that I was referring to and the one from earlier this year is probably too recent to appear on The Times map.

Is there any way of finding out the nature of the problem reported?
I have checked the location of the 7 danger points in my locality and don't know what the reporter could have been considering to be dangerous.
The danger points reported are at each end of a poorly designed contraflow, at a poor interface between joint user path and road, at a roundabout/flyover on a dual carriageway. The other 3 seem to be at completely random points.

theres a road safety campaign been going on (drivesafe?roadsafe?) which targets the most dangerous roads(ones with most deaths/serious injuries), then 'make them safe' , locally this has meant a few 50mph instead of 60 limits imposed... it *seems* to have been a very successful idea..
except the cat+fiddle, which basically kills motorcyclists... but because this makes it's reputation 'more serious' it seems more motorcyclists ride it. hence more deaths...

On the face of it, a uk wide 'audit' to target the worst would be a great idea, just hope it doesnt mean making the junctions 'not fit for purpose' ie, to slow everyone down, i *hate* cyclist 'solutions' like that..

What you have to realise is that Elephant and Castle is a very busy junction used by loads of cyclists. CS7 must be one of the busiest, if not the busiest cycle lane in the UK, so by it's very nature it will attract loads of complaints.

I normally commute through E&C. It's a PITA, and a magnet for bad driving. Really poor design.
