Arghhhh I've been so busy looking for stuff that is a) comfortable and  light and cool to wear just to ride in and now you have to remind me that I will need to start searching for winter gear too

I must admit though, I felt an autumn nip in the air this morning and began to wonder whether I've just wasted the money I spent buying shorts and 3/4 leggings yesterday ;)

You'll probably be fine - I only needed my long tights once or twice last winter...3/4s did the job fine (although mine have fleecy knees!).

I definitely need to get a wind/rainproof jacket though. Most of my waterproof gear (well, the stuff that still fits me that is  ) is from my horse-riding days and I'm not sure a long waxed riding coat is exactly suitable to be wearing on a bike

baggy may have a point - our recent winters seem relatively mild, and if its really really cold chances are the roads may be unsafe / slippy anyway.

i'm very hairy though so i have extra insulation.
