I havent told many here but my missus was a very keen cyclist, riding more miles a week than myself and just over a year ago developed a pain in her right knee, after a visit to her GP and subsequently a hospital visit she was told it was a full knee replacement that was needed, no alternative treatments were offered so after a couple of weeks (very short period of time) she was in for the op at Scunthorpe hospital, little did we know that Scunthorpe hospital had an awfull reputation for this operation with a very small % of sucessfull ops that actually worked.
Now its exactly one year to the month she had it done and is now wheelchairbound for anything over a five minute walk, her knee is permanantly bent slightly and thats it, it wont bend or straighten, her surgeon has basically washed his hands of it, he first said she wasnt trying hard enough to get the new joint to work but after her physio team sent him a report of all the work she was doing trying to get back on her bike he then changed his story to, She is trying way to hard
so we decided enough was enough and demanded a second opinion as her GP couldnt understand why only a full replacement was the only option offered, anyway our solicitor has got her into the Claremont private clinic in Sheffield.....yes the same one as all the worlds top cycling teams visit, we were ther a couple of weeks ago when in came the Condor team car with a rider who I didnt see
.......anyway to cut a long story, she is now undergoing the knife again to see if they can get a new knee in and get it working, so hopefully in a few months we may have another new member here if I can find a small enough frame to build up for her, I have been looking but the smaller frames arent exactly cheap.......any suggestions where to get her one as a supprise.
