I've been commuting on a bike for as long as i can remember and in that time have seen some amusing and wonderful things.
Most recently i've seen two commuters both using a unicycle as there preferred method of transport and a chap on a penny farthing. Not to mention a tandem recumbent with the pair of riders sitting back to back climbing up Ditchling Beacon on the L2B.

I was once chased by a doe for about 100 metres (it felt a lot longer than that though); it gave up when it saw me shifting to the big ring ^_^

About a 4-5 mile section of my commute is rural and I'm lucky enough to see some wonderful wildlife in spring/summer - hare, birds, butterflies, and a variety of farm animals

Riding in Canada you can run into some very big animals; Bears, Moose, and Deer.
About 15 years ago I was followed for 15 K by a coyote (was not Wile E) who kept about 150 yards away from me.

But the strangest one for me is for the last 5 years I have rode past a dead rabbit that still moves. (Dead rabbit is up on a overhead power line. He moves north and south based upon the prevailing wind.)

That is fantastic! I think that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard (and I'm a copper)
How the hell did it get on an overhead power line?!?! Amazing!

That is a bit of a funny one, upon seeing him one of our operators (I work in refinery) asked out loud "can a rabbit climb a power pole?"

What funny is that in the operators mind the rabbit climbed the pole, then tightrope walked out on the wire. Getting half way across the wire the rabbit panicked and collapsed of fear, not falling of the wire...poor circus trained rabbit!

What probably happened was that the rabbit was caught by a hawk or a big owl and as it was flying away it dropped the dead rabbit which landed on the wire.

Due to our cold winters, dry summers, and the fact that it is suspended 20 feet in the air it has more been tanned like leather rather than decompose.

Coffee and Recumbent Trikes.......
I often get kangaroos hopping along in the paddocks along the edge of the road..... Amazingly daft animals who are happy to jump a 6ft fence to then hop across a road, usually it's not the one you but he 2 you did not.....

They make real mess of small cars......when they collide.......

The black wallabies are a lot smaller and faster and often boing out onto the roads in the bush areas......

We also get a lot of big birds, regularly see kestrels and kites.....

Lots on bunny wabbitts too !

I sometimes see a guy on a row bike in hyde park

Jerome. I had a go once, it was kinda fun and a lot like riding a recumbent. His rowbike isn't such a good one, I think it's excellent for exercise, but really quite shoot as a bicycle.

xlnetwork (Wilfred) has a really good one, a Thys rowbike. That's actually a serious bicycle too, people do major distance on them.

I've seen a uni-cyclist commuting around Bristol before now - with lovely red rim on his wheel, but today I saw what looked like a student using one to cycle to school, whilst his mate was cycling on a normal bike.

But one of the more impressive (to me) skills I've seen on a bike was one guy who was sitting on the handlebars facing backwards whilst pedalling along the road - he was definitely showing off once he realised we were watching him.
