cant believe nobody has said it yet but...

this thread is useless without photos!

It's a bit tricky to come to a stop, whip out a camera, and take a picture of an Owl or Buzzard before it flies off!!!

That is a bit of a funny one, upon seeing him one of our operators (I work in refinery) asked out loud "can a rabbit climb a power pole?"

Bloody rabbits. With the price of scrap metal these days they'll try and nick anything. Serves it right.

Forgot, doing a hundred-miler last May, cycling along the 'top' leg of the circuit rolling down a slight hill, suddenly became aware of a herd of deer bounding through the field to my left. Was then left trying to steer the bike straight at 20+mph whilst not running into my fellow cyclists and watch the deer at the same time!

Coming over a summit to descend to Malham - had to stop to watch a bunch of workmen taking barrow loads of gravel from an enormous pile by the side of the road, across to a footpath they were building.

A very ordinary barrow. One wheel, two handles, holding enough for one man to push.

Except said barrow was slung underneath a hired helicopter, making repeated trips from heap to path, 100 yards away.

Okay, it wasn't a barrow, but I had a camera with me when I saw part of the Pennine Bridleway being built, same technique ...

Riding along the road today, I turned off onto an unlit gravel pathway which goes through a narrow grassy field, with trees on one side - I angled my front headlight up and put it on high beam, and there were a good 10 or 20 rabbits staring back at me from along the pathway - Stood there transfixed by my light, then hopped away casually.

Not many poisonous snakes around rural Notts, but I did stop and take a photo (poor quality - on my mobile phone) of this very dead grass snake recently:

I have seen an urban Badger twice now - once in the hedge, the other time running away from me until it found a person walking the other way at which point I was apparently less of a threat so it doubled back. The pedestrian was doing something with his mobile phone so didn't notice the badger at his feet!

Half way there
out and about with a mate on country lanes, minding our own business when a badger decided that it needed to cross our path. it happened in slow motion as these things usually do, i could hear each one of its claws scraping the tarmac as it charged past us.

bloody marvellous, as was the startled yelp my mate gave. still makes me laugh now

I saw a Badger last night on the road for the first time in years but we were in the car again!!! As it crossed in front of us - lit up by the car lights.
