C8's just been in for an oil change. Apparently after 35,000 miles (2 years abuse) it needs:

2 front tyres... fair enough.
It's second set of brake pads (fair enough, wear 'n tear big vehicle heavy loads £380 ish) Warranty issues and all that...
CV Boot... under warranty.
Front wiper blades are worn... £78

WHAT FFS???????

£78 for a pair of wiper blades, what planet are they on?
Less than a tenner each from t'internet.

:smile::biggrin:

Yes but they won't have been lovingly caressed and soothed by a Citroen trained mechanic.

Oh but think of the labour required to fit them! It must take all of five minutes....

This is why I have always done my own servicing.

How do you get through so many brake pads?

Dunno. It's a good question.
Way the Mrs drives, lots of short journeys in stop-start traffic... maybe they're just made of cheese...

Long term loafer
I once had a Renault Megane and the bulb in the headlight went and with my big clumsy hands I couldnt replace it. So I took it back to the dealer and they charged me £11 to replace it. Same thing happened again with a different light, and the same dealer charged me £2 the second time. First guy hand charged me for labour and it only took him about 30 seconds.

£380 for a set of brake pads?

Sod warranty issues, I'd be doing those myself.

That's why I do my own repairs.

Last year, in order to get my car through it's MOT, it needed new brake discs on the front, new brake calipers on the back, new brake pads all round, a new handbrake cable, brake bleeding (because of the new brake calipers), a new alternator belt and new power steering belt (and even that was a big job because I had to remove the engine mount:rolleyes:. Oh, and new wiper blades, but I got them from Wilkinsons fo £1.49 each

And the car past its MOT with flying colours

I wonder how much I saved on labour costs.
