My son is doing his Bikeability (Cycling Proficiency) today/tomorrow at Primary school.

He's been riding to and from school for a some time (on his own). Anyway, on his way home tonight, he called into my SIL's house to see their new kittens. Fortunately, he locked his bike up to the metal gate, but left his helmet and gloves on the bike. Guess what, they were gone minutes later.

Who nicks a cheap Giro helmet ? He now has my old Giro Pneumo (was a good helmet some years back) to keep him going for tomorrow - will get him a new one soon.

At least it's a lesson about not leaving anything bike related anywhere. Thank goodness someone didn't think to lift the gate and take his bike and the gate away.

He'd ridden back to school to check, then back to the SIL's.

Spotted him riding up our street as I cycled home from work (didn't notice the lack of helmet) - pulled along side and sad 'hurry up slow coach' - didn't get the usual 'race ya', he then explained. The kids have to have a helmet for the training though

I was up late trying to retro fit a rear reflector to his new MTB (training rules say they are needed etc.) - It's got the oversize seat tube, with no seat tube showing as it's his first full size bike, and the bloody reflectors were 27.2 fitting. Botched it on the seat stay drop out near the cassette.

Oaf on a Bike
I think the opportunist thieves just get to the point of stealing anything and everything they can. Stealing a kids bike helmet really is pretty low though.

Everytime i leave my bike anywhere it takes me like 5-10 minutes to lock it up and strip all the accessories off :/

I see kids leave there bikes in front of shops unlocked blocking doorways and there still there when they come out, Leave your bike locked to a railing or stand and 8 times out of 10 some one will take anything that is not welded to the frame. Soon cyclist will have to carry barbwire as well as a length of ships anchor chain with them.

My Eldest lad looses stuff all the time and has had his phone stolen ,there is a lesson to learn, don't trust every one!

Dozy bugger. He 'found' his helmet in the ICT suite this morning, where he had left it. 11 year old lads and their memory.
I once cycled to work, did my shift and went to go home to find some bulgar had nicked my helmet. Well that's what I thought initially, I cycled to work in a skull cap rather than a helmet, the helmet was still sitting in the bike locker at the flat waiting to go on top  .
