A piece of car driving makes for a happier commute.

On this mornings commute I had an peanut of a bus driver pass within inches of me.. not nice seeing as I had only just left home.

However this was more then made up for by a young lady in one of those fat Mini cars.

I got ahead of her at a set of lights and we both tuned onto quite a long narrow road. She had to wait behind me for a while. I was expecting the usual revving of an engine but no she stayed back and waited until the other lane was clear and did a textbook overtaking manoeuvre.

I caught up with her at the lights. I stopped at her window and asked to wind it down. She looked a bit nonplussed bless her. I said that her overtake was an excellent piece of driving and thanked her for waiting behind me along the road. She broke into a huge smile and looked well chuffed, said thanks, no problem and wished me a nice day. I said the same to her and went on my way.

There are some great drivers out there.....

Similar to you, I had a shitty bus overtake today. But I had some great driving from a hgv and a car driver. They both got a wave of thanks!

Most people are actually OK, but I've noticed that bus drivers are getting worse.
A little story, about (large number) years ago, there we all were, about 10 of us, on a little brisk winter ride in UK. Bus comes up and passes us as the road swings right. He goes for the kerb at the end of the curve and neatly cuts off the team sprinter into said kerb. Team sprinter is unhappy and says so. Now, buses have to stop....
So when this happens, about 400 metres up the road, team sprinter goes round to the cab door (old style bus, with a single cab separate from the passenger section) and has a word. Bus driver sticks up two fingers and drives off. Next stop, sprinter goes round to cab door, jumps off bike, pulls door open, leaps up and bops very surpried driver flush on the nose. Blood all over the place, slams door, rides off.
Never heard a thing, so even then we had a) bad drivers, and b) even worse tempered sprinters on a short fuse. Hooligans, all of us, terrible. Things were simpler then, today he would probably end up in jail!
