Anyway who decided that the ideal ambient temprature of a room should be 21. 18 degrees centigrade would be better.
I have pointed out many times that the average summer temperature in England is 15.6 C. Most people (surely?) don't have their heating on in the summer so why heat their homes 5 or 6 degrees warmer than that when they do switch it on!

On a previous thermo, I set it to the temp I wanted and disconnected the dial. SWMBO then set it to what she wanted, but it still stayed the same. Simples...............

Please pm me to tell me how you did that.

Other way round in our house. Mrs Cube can't stand the heating on much at all so kids and I wrapped up and fighting to get thethermostat into the late teens.....

It does mean I get all the duvet if I want it though.

My heating is set to 17 to 18 depending on the outside temperature (rented house with single glazing and heat loss rate increases in the cold), mrs usually has a fleece blanket over her and tshirt/sweater combo as she finds it cool, whilst i generally have on a t shirt and micro fleece top and normally more than comfortable, if it gets about 20, i'm usually stripping back to t shirt.

Duvet wise, I got (about 2 months ago) a wool duvet and it appears to have helped the duvet fight as it is warm enough for the mrs but still breathes enough not to overheat me, though i do sleep au natural, whilst mrs has pj's on, before (with both down and hollow fibre) one of us was always too warm or cold

No higher than 15. There aren't valves on our radiators so if you put it any higher it becomes ridiculously hot in the bedroom...

That and I don't like it too warm. Probably the two years spent living in a house that, even with all the radiators on full whack, never quite got warm enough to stop being able to see your breath... Oh, and the window that almost fell out when it got a bit windy and the door was open (my friend actually ran outside and caught it as it was falling...)

I miss that house.
