A constant battle in my house and car too, in an evening I'm just in shorts - whatever the weather, the wife is in at least two layers (one on really hot summer days), I tell her that she can always put another layer on but I can't take anymore off. As for the car, I need one of those with 'twin climate control' so I can have the Arctic and she can have Equatorial.

Is there a real pattern developing here, of men feeling warmer than women? Or is it just a sampling trick, as there aren't many female respondents on the thread.

I'm trying to think what the evolutionary advantage of it would be. Females making sure infants are warm enough perhaps?

Its definitely a man/woman thing....hubby is always warm n I'm always cold - dual zone in the car is essential! And at work the women are always complaining that the office is freezing whereas the men think its absolutely fine (as we're all sat there in thick jumpers but still shivering).

Someone must have studied this surely?

I'm thinking either there's an evolutionary reason (like I suggested, keeping the young warm enough), or it's a side effect of a hormonal difference.

The short term solution is to 'lose' the TV remote control.
This allows the woman to get up now and again to keep warm.

My guess is that in many (not all) situations the bloke is thinking more about the bill than the woman:whistle:
No, I think that there is a genuine physiological difference at work - my mother, sisters, ex-girlfriends, stepdaughter, nieces and miscellaneous female friends have all complained about my house being too cold for them from autumn to spring and in cold summers. I, OTOH find that they tend to have their heating way too high for me.

I have a friend who keeps her heating on full blast pretty much most of the year. When I have visited for an overnight I have to open the bedroom window, turn off the radiator and spend time wafting the cool air in and the warm out. The rooms are like ovens.

When the weather is damp and the humidity high I find it difficult to shave because it's so hot and humid in the bathroom that I sweat and electric razors prefer dry skin.

To weigh in domestic homes are now heated to 5 degrees more than they were 50 years ago. Being a little colder burns more fat even by a couple of degrees as the body releases it to be used as fuel to warm us up.
So too much heat could make you fat especially coupled with sitting around feeling cold. So there you have it too much central heating could lead to obesity.
Anyway who decided that the ideal ambient temprature of a room should be 21. 18 degrees centigrade would be better.

On a previous thermo, I set it to the temp I wanted and disconnected the dial. SWMBO then set it to what she wanted, but it still stayed the same. Simples...............
