I need to buy a phone with camera so that I can take pictures during our LE JOG ride and upload them to our blog.

Apart from being able to make and answer calls, it doesnt need to do anything else.

Second hand prefered to keep the cost down.

thick question, having not upgraded for some 6 years... can one put their existing sim card in any mobile and carry on with PAYG?

It depends whether the phone is locked to a network or not. Try to get one that's unlocked, or if not, get one that's locked to your network.

Some will be locked to a particular network...but if you have a geek friend they may be able to unlock them, or alternatively there is ALWAYS a bloke in the nearest shopping centre or market that can for less than a tenner.
