) there was a crunch but no pain so I put my cycling shoes back on and cycled home via a big hill just for fun. When I came to take the cycling shoe off, the toes and forefoot had swelled up so much the flesh was 'locked' into the mesh of the shoes. Getting them off (shoes, that is) was the first time I got any twinges of pain and it was downhill from there on
Physio said the impact had damaged the nerves as well as breaking the big and second toes so it was a while before the pain got going.
