Thinking about Nicky Hayden yesterday got me thinking about others

Participants of perceived dangerous sports who were killed or maimed doing something unrelated.

Here's a few off the top of my head - anyone think of others?

Mike Hawthorn - road crash on Guildford bypass
Graham Hill - private plane crash
Didier Pironi - killed racing a powerboat off IOW
Nicky Hayden - Bicycle accident in Italy
Steve Hislop - private helicopter crash in Scotland

Michael Schumacher - disabled in skiing accident
Allessandro Nannini - disabled in private helicopter crash


And then some questionable suicides/deaths

Ernst Degner - found dead in hotel room in Spain (suicide/overdose/Stasi?)

Colin McRae, helicopter crash, which I didn't know until just now was his own fault for irresponsible showing off!

Also, another rally driver that died at the peak of his career. Richard burns, although not an accident. Ironic that he cheated death for a living by driving at scary speeds in scary conditions but in the end his health let him down and he was killed by a terminal brain tumor

Unfortunately with his young daughter also in the car.

It was news to me, and also tragic that he killed his own son and another child as well as a neighbour. Terrible waste of life!

Luke Rowe (S\ky team cyclist) bust his leg white-water rafting at his brother's stag weekend a few weeks ago. Will likely be off the bike for a year.

I recall a goalie in the 70s whos career ended after a collision with a dog on the pitch

Now that is weird.
I always thought Charlie George lost a toe in the lawn mower accident............so before replying I googled it.
And
There are newspaper articles saying it was his toe while others say it was his finger.
Now he could be just the unluckiest/clumsiest person ever..........or one of them is wrong
