Wasn't Michael Schumacher the guy who used to crash into other cars so he could win races? Or was that Senna?

Wait. They BOTH used those tactics.

Just remembered another one.

Milke Hailwood - car crash while leaving the chippy in Birmingham.

Unfortunately with his young daughter also in the car.

Not in Birmingham. Alcester. Near where he lived in Tanworth-in-Arden Warwickshire. I lived in the Village next to the church where he's also burried .The annual memorial run used to end up with hundreds of bikers in the Village. It ended, I've no idea why, in 2011 . As a keen biker I used to look forward to it...
A common (but not exclusive) theme is people behaving as they would when they were competing, when they weren't competing.

Or doing things they shouldn't. Colin McCrae, for example, crashed a helicopter he shouldn't have been flying.
McCrae killed his 6 year old son and his sons friend who was on a play date.
His parents didn't know about the helicopter and had not given permission for him to go in it.

Darius Vasell drilled through his own toenail trying to relieve pressure on an injury.

Charlie George lost a finger in a lawnmower.
If we are talking about mere injuries and not tragic deaths then we cannot go any further without mentioning I Like Skol. This amazing untrained stunt monkey, internet legend, cycling hero and general all round good guy, once broke his knee cap after attempting to ride his retro MTB down an irregular flight of stone steps in the old mill remains at Burrs country park. Despite the crippling injury he then went on to attempt the rest of his planned ride and covered another 2-3 off-road miles before throwing in the towel and taking to the tarmac to limp back to base. It was 2 weeks before he sought medical attention and never did receive any corrective treatment for the injury but made an amazing recovery against all odds just relying on stubbornness, willpower, determination and good old fashioned Northern toughness!
