7.2 miles, inner city, mainly cycle paths. Just a couple of days a week in better weather. Work has a shower available if needed. No lockers available.

Question is about clothing. I like to weather trousers and shirt at work but don't want to cycle in them. Am i wrong thinking that? Or am I right thinking that and should trow shoes, trousers and shirt in a bag and cycle in daily in my normal cycling gear?

I keep suit, shoes, ties and washing stuff at work and just take in clean shirt daily.

I also keep spare socks & pants at work incase it chucks it down!

EDIT:
Sorry, just seen no locker. Any chance of keepign anythgin anywhere?

7 miles is close enough for you not to be able to work up too much of a sweat so you could probably cycle in your work clothes no problem. However, if you use your commute as a bit of a work out and want to put your foot down, perhaps work clothes in a bag.

You could always drive or bus it on Monday with all the clothes you'll need for the week ahead, shove them in a drawer somewhere and then cycle in comfort for the rest of the days.

Take a supply of clothes in on the days you don't cycle and ALWAYS remember spares of essential  clothing....

3 of us cycle here and we have requisitioned a filing cabinet for storage purposes

Depending upon the intensity of a commute I like to ride in shirt and trousers last night's 17 was like that but it involved a quick shoe/bike change at the flat, a trip to a lbs, another quick bike/shoe change, a trip to Hellfrauds and then a supermarket. In winter I've commuted up to 33miles that way with a light pair of overtrousers and winter jacket. If I am going to work that wee bit harder I'll wear a cycling shirt and change and if I work harder still I'll wear shorts too and roll up my shirt and trowsers in a small foldable bag.

Hang your trousers in the shower room, keep shoes and shower stuff in sports bag in shower room or if office based under your desk?. Take clean shirt in each day either in a rucksack or panniers.

7 miles each way is exactly the same as my commute. If you take it steady and don't get tempted to race others, you can do that distance and still be cool and smart when you arrive. I can, but I'm not quick or sweaty.

I usually change to cycle, though. I have a locker now but before that I just kept my cycling clothes in my bag under my desk and changed in the loo.

No lockers here. <edit: no lockers for office staff, shopfloor all have them> I’m desk based.
I have a plastic tub I store under my desk:
Spare clothes/underwear etc.
A towel and a small tub with a face cloth.
A couple of tins of soup and a couple of quid incase I don’t fancy or forget bringing my lunch in.

Managed to sleep in this morning so failed on my first planned commute.

Have checked out bike store and showers and will make some space to store kit by my desk.

Cant do a slow commute (well, I'll be slow due to lack of fitness!) so will definitely be a shower on arrival!

No facilities for me either (unless the gents toilets count), I have the old box for my rollers under my desk and if I've commuted in lycra it serves as a shelf to stick them on and let them dry out. And if I commute in my work shirt/trousers I usually go at a pace so as not to sweat. Lots of deodourant is used if I need it and maybe a quick face wash.

I store a towel, smart shoes and wash kit at work and just bring in some smart clothes on the days i do the 20mile commute. To be honest, i think i'd do the same if it was a 7mile commute as trying to cycle slowly can be a little frustrating! Good luck with the routine.

However hard I try, I cant pace myself to avoid sweating. I just want to push harder

I just bring in clean shirt and underwear each day, and change before and after work between my work attire and my lycra.

No showers at work either, but a quick wash in the disabled toilet and a fresh shirt and Im fine for the day.
I also store an emergency set of clothes (tshirt, trousers, underwear) in my desk drawer.

I commute 20miles a day, 5 days a week.

Baby wipes are your friend.

I don't have showers, so have wipes at work and carry a small supply with me. I cycle in cycle kit, and usually leave trousers and shoes at work. Carry shirt and undies each day. If on site then its locks, shoes and pants and things get heavy in the panniers. We don't have any accessible showers on any site, so baby wipes and roll on deo.
