I had my bianchi in the lbs ...wheel wobble fixed £12 cant ARGUE.

Got it back to the residence and the chain is slipping all over the rear cogs...so i take it back to lbs which actually isnt so local...seems that the problem is that the ratchets inside the campag shifter are broken ...bollox....apparently they are only supplied as a pair and that will be £116 thank you very much...plus fitting and new tape...total iro £150....

Rock and a hard place really...by the time ive tracked down spare shifter and learnt how to fit it etc i will be 100years old...so had to accept damage on chin...bah.

Expensive month on top of new laptop, sound card and toothache...hey ho...its only money...and life is to short.

I was told that about jumping gears and selection problems, I bought the new shifters and it didn't sort it, it was the rear hanger that was bent..

Never mind the LBS wanted £200 to fit 1 sram apex shifter....and you did not get the LH as a spare.

Arghhh!

Mrs A_T and I went away to London for a quiet week-end on our own. Just settled down in Covent Garden for a relaxing meal and a bottle of red stuff... phone buzzed.
No.1 son in a panic, "Dad, I might have put diesel into mum's tank"....
Me," No, it's not possible...the nozzle is too big."
No.1 son, "It was a bit difficult but I managed it..."

£212 lighter... the AA have an excellent fuel tank draining call-out service...

the guy wasn't pulling a fast one...the problem was there before i took it in as i had been struggling to set it right myself...couldnt figure out why any cable adjustments had no effect on slipping over 4 cogs just going up and not going down. He said he'd got it working..not perfect but rideable and for £12 i was happy....only when i rode it it was unrideable so i took it back and he explained the shifter thing...ouch. They are 4 years old...hmm...is that about par for the course?

Seriously I went through exactly the same process, I replaced, Cassette, Chain and RD (RD was bacause it had gone in to the spokes) The RD going in to the spokes was also due to the Rear Hanger. I think that someone at work had knocked the bike over without me knowing and the rear hanger got damaged.

A rear dropout hanger should not be anymore than £15-25 and easy fit and even if it is not that causing the problem they are always handy to have as a spare so not exactly wasting money.

Levers, particularly dual purpose levers , are probably the most expensive part of a normal bike bar the frame. My 105s cost over £200 to replace when I bust the left hand one. I did get to keep the RH one as a spare though. I dread to think how much it will cost to replace the SRAM Reds on Lelly should I ever break one of those.
